No. 8: Grow Collection Special Edition
Welcome to the Grow special edition of The Fabric Files! Grow is my first originally designed fabric collection on Spoonflower. It is a celebration of growth from Army lawyer to artist and entrepreneur. Each pattern represents growth, from a seed to a bloom. And of course the sun, without which growth would be impossible.
The collection includes nine patterns in two different color ways along with 15 coordinating solids. You can view the entire collection here and find images and direct links to all of the individual patterns and solids at the bottom of this post.
One of the things I love about having my designs on a print on demand platform like Spoonflower is that it reduces overproduction and fabric waste. When you order fabric from Spoonflower, your exact order is printed and shipped to you! Even individual fat quarters!
The same goes for any home decor items—the fabric needed to create those items is printed once an order is place, and then the item is made. Fairly compensating people for their work is important to me, so I love that Spoonflower's home decor items are sewn in the USA.

Quilt Inspiration
It can be hard to visualize how fabric will look in a quilt, so I created some simple mock ups to help your imagination! The first quilt is made up of 12" Ohio Star blocks, with patterned star fabric, and solid backgrounds. This one gives you that cohesive scrappy look!
Of course there's no need to use the entire collection together. This Sawtooth Star quilt alternates two different patterned stars and solid backgrounds.
My absolute favorite baby quilts to make are classic patchwork paired with modern prints. Each mock up uses all of the nine patterns in one color way, and is made up of 4.5" (finished) squares. They are both filled with plenty of contrast to keep those babies' eyes interested!
Clothing Inspiration
When you order fabric from Spoonflower, you get to choose the substrate on which the designs are printed. You are not limited to quilting cotton! So why not make some adorable kids' clothing?
